In education ownership is more fundamental than content, teaching style, or technology. When the teacher is also the owner it changes the hidden curriculum of schooling. Instead of teaching students how to be employees or fit into a bureaucracy, he models how to run a business and start something new. Ownership embeds agency into everything.
And it solves the alignment problem: an owner has to win families every year with consistent excellence, and there’s no chasing after tuition dollars at expense of the mission because he has to teach the students he accepts.
Scale smal
Small scale allows for freedom and experimentation. There is no disconnection between administration and teaching. Small scale is human. Small scale is face-to-face community and learning by hand.
We scale small by recruiting a new generation of education entrepreneurs and giving them the encouragement and tools to create their own microschools and learning centers.
Our vision for American education is thousands of microschool businesses owned and run by their founders and answering directly to the families they serve, not to grant makers or government agencies.

We are looking for graduates of St. John’s College and others with facility in the liberal arts to join our first cohort of aspiring entrepreneurs.
